Flood Control Baffle (FCB)

The Flood Control Baffle (FCB) was developed as an adaptable, temporary solution for urban flood mitigation, addressing challenges posed by sudden, intense rainfall. Controlled tests assessed its ability to contain and redirect water flow, demonstrating its effectiveness with minimal leakage. The FCB utilizes water pressure to enhance ground friction, maintaining stability even under overflow conditions. Notably, its performance on flat urban terrain allows deployment in critical areas such as residential entrances and commercial spaces. While the FCB remains stable, securing its ends is recommended in extreme conditions to prevent lateral displacement. Its lightweight structure and quick installation provide a practical alternative to conventional sandbags, enabling rapid response to flooding without requiring extensive manpower or storage. These findings highlight the FCB’s potential as a scalable and efficient urban flood control measure, supporting emergency response, infrastructure resilience, and sustainable flood management strategies in high-risk environments.
