Groundwater and Surfacewater interaction at Tasik Chini
The Hydrogeology Research Centre has undertaken a numerical groundwater modelling project to support the development of the Tasik Chini Lake Management Master Plan. This study aims to characterize the interactions between groundwater, river, and lake systems within the Tasik Chini catchment area. A key objective is to evaluate how groundwater contributes to lake water levels and how these levels respond to variations in groundwater flow. To achieve this, a numerical model of the hydrological system is being developed using MODFLOW, with a focus on understanding the complex dynamics of surface water–groundwater interactions within the basin.
