Projek Pemuliharaan Muara Sungai Kerang, Mukim Sungai Tinggi, Trong, Perak : Current Meter Measurement Data
The Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (DID) has requested National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) to measure current data for two (2) locations around rivermouth of Sg. Kerang, Trong, Perak. The kick-off meeting between DID and NAHRIM was held on 25th April 2022. Through the meeting, NAHRIM has submitted a Technical and Financial Proposal to DID to install 2 sets of current meter at site for duration of 14 days. Site technical visit and discussion between NAHRIM, DID officers and DID’s consultant (Perunding Bakti) were held on 1st June 2022. During the discussion, NAHRIM has proposed two locations for current meter installation at Sg. Kerang based on river bathymetric profile and safety of equipment. Both final coordinate for current meter deployment then agreed by JPS, NAHRIM and consultant. Two sets of current meters were installed by NAHRIM on 2nd June 2022 and retrieved on 16th June 2022; continuously for 14 days covering both neap and spring phase as required by DID. The bathymetric data surveyed by NAHRIM during this technical visit were used to determine the location for AWAC deployment where the minimum river depth of 4 meter MSL required for the deployment.
