AUTOMATIC WATER DRIP IRRIGATION TECHNIQUE AS SMART AGRICULTURE MONITORING SYSTEM

The germination process of the cocoa seed in nursery is considered as initial stage of the cocoa plant life cycle. Cocoa seedlings are typically kept at the nursery for four to six months prior to being moved to the plantation. This Automatic Water Drip Irrigation Technique as Smart Agriculture Monitoring System is an electronic device-based system that aims to create ideal soil moisture conditions for healthy plant growth through appropriate irrigation frequencies. The system's integrated sensors and built-in wireless LAN will identify any alterations that could endanger the cocoa plant nursery. The real-time data on soil moisture provided for monitoring via the ThinkSpeak application that allowing for the appropriate course of action to be applied. This project is implemented in cocoa nursery at Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB) Bagan Datuk, Perak. As an observation technique, the height of each cocoa plant (cm) and the quantity of leaves on each plant are measured within three weeks. Comparatively, this monitoring system which is driven by a Raspberry Pi3 model B via drip irrigation technique is recorded as Treatment 1 (T1), while the overhead sprinkler method used at MCB Bagan Datuk, Perak is recorded as Treatment 2 (T2). Outcomes of the observation revealed the percentage height of the cocoa plant based on T1 is shown to have increased by 26.82%, however T2 shows a 16.04% growth. In terms of percentage growth of leaves, T1 is 36.31%, whereas T2 is 20.70%.
