GROUNDWATER STUDY AT JENDERAM HILIR AREA USING COLLOIDAL BORESCOPE SYSTEM
Field measurement of groundwater movement has been carried out in Jenderam Hilir involving several boreholes along Sungai Langat and near the pond within the study area. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the velocity and direction of the groundwater flow by using colloidal borescope system (CBS). The CBS consist of a set of lenses, a digital compass and miniature video cameras capable of observing natural particles movement in the monitoring wells. Based on the observation of these particles, it appears possible to measure in situ groundwater flow velocity and direction in a well. Based on the results, groundwater flow movement measured by CBS can be used to validate the results obtained by conventional methods. The velocity of the groundwater flow at the selected sites ranges from 0.10 to 3.58 x 10-4 m/sec. Data obtained from this study are expected to assist NAHRIM in their research and development on groundwater resources.
