Stagnant Flood Water Evaporation Accelerator and Long Range Discharge System
National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) has developed a system to transform stagnant flood water into mist through an evaporation system. This innovation is installed with five types of nozzles with various forms of sprinkler such as adjustable arc spray nozzle, field sprinkler, green garden, fountain nozzle, and fan or vapor blower. The function and efficiency of these nozzles are tested to determine the best type of nozzle that is compatible with the flooding area. The long-range water discharge system is in-cooperated in the design as a support tool to alleviate the level of stagnant water and transfer it from inundated area to non-inundated area. Through laboratory observation of these five types of nozzle, the green garden spray and fan or vapor blower have produced a high evaporation rate which is between 9.5% to 18%. The water discharge from stagnant floods is low i.e. at 4.8 liters in 10 minutes. However, finding indicates that the fountain spray nozzle shows a good percentage of evaporation rate which is up to 15% with high water discharge rate at 409 liters in 10 minutes. The selection of the nozzle is based on the problem situation and environmental conditions.
