BUILDING AN EARLY FLOOD WARNING SYSTEM BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT TECHNIQUES FOR KEMAMAN BASED FORECAST PILOT STUDY - WEATHER AND CLIMATE SCIENCE FOR SERVICE PARTNERSHIP (WCSSP) SOUTHEAST ASIA 2ND REGIONAL SCIENCE WORKSHOP

The Weather and Climate Science for Service Partnership Southeast Asia-Malaysia (WCSSP SE Asia-Malaysia) programme comprises projects designed to build the basis for strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities to weather and climate hazards. This programme also strengthens links between the UK and Malaysia, drawing on UK capability and expertise, and creating sustainable relationships for long-term collaboration. Established in 2014, this project is a "Matched Funding" between the Governments of United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia with the aim of promoting the collaboration of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) between the two countries. Under this partnership, a Cooperation Agreement was signed on 25 July 2017 between the UK and Malaysia, led by MIGHT and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), with the cooperation of three implementing agencies, namely the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) and the National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM). Developing an Impact Based Forecast for Malaysia is one of the important outputs in this programme where UK Met Office has long experience and expertise. With this project, technical experts from Malaysia can have a first-hand information, experience, and full knowledge of the development of impact-based forecasts (IBF) in the UK to be implemented in Malaysia.
