-Serious flooding incidents were reported at several areas in Kedah (Yan, Kota Muda, Gurun), Pulau Pinang (Balik Pulau, Seberang Perai Selatan) and Perak (Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang, Mualim) -Unusual rainfall intensity at the top of Mount Jerai has caused an overflow of rivers in the area around the mountain foothill -The rapid flow has swept away logs and debris which is stuck at bridges causing the river to overflow into nearby settlements (Kampung Tupah and Taman Tupah) -The morphological factor of Gunung Jerai (Old dormant landslide) contributes to the frequency of landslide events - Sabo technology is proposed again after the debris flow event at Gunung Jerai on 18 August 2021 - A total of 6 suggested locations will be considered to build Sabo works which will be focused on Batu Hampar River and Bujang River, Tupah for the first phase - Established technical support team lead by NAHRIM with local universities (UTM, USM, UKM) and Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) and JICA for the initial concept design proposal
