MINERAL CLEARANCE REPORT FOR CHUPING VALLEY DEVELOPMENT AREA
A well-planned development is important to ensure a built up area is safe for human living. In correspond to government’s policy to develop a safe and environmental friendly and integrated agricultural area; this area should be evaluated for mineral clearance. Mineral clearance is “a process of giving an acknowledgment to an area that has a little or no potential mineral’’. Mineral clearance practice is important before approving any development especially for big scale project to ensure the land use can be well-develop and to avoid mineral waste. The main objective of the study is to provide a comprehensive report to determine the suitability of landuse for the proposed development. The investigation involves an area of 2982.07 acres located in Chuping territory in order to collect geological information to verify the mineral clearance of the site. Based on Preliminary Soil Investigation works, it is conclude that the site is underlain with dolomite at the range of 1.50m to 18.0m depth. Geophysical study shows that the dolomite boundary is located 100 meter to east compared to previous geological study and fresh dolomites were found within the study area. From Laboratory results summarize that dolomite within the study area is suitable for mining but need further study for big scale quarry development. Details study using different method and equipment must be done to confirm the mineral existence within the project area
