KAJIAN PENYIASATAN TAPAK DAN PENAKSIRAN SUMBER AIR TANAH BAGI KAJIAN SISTEM BEKALAN AIR KONJUNTIF WILAYAH PERSEKUTUAN KUALA LUMPUR (2019)

Kuala Lumpur is the city with the largest population in Malaysia. Due to rapid population and economic growth, demand for water supply increases from time to time. However, existing water resources in Kuala Lumpur were unable to meet demand and had to get water from neighboring states, Selangor. Therefore, an initiative to determine the potential of groundwater to meet the increasing demand for water supply is implemented. Six monitoring wells were drilled and installed, lithological logs and well construction reports were prepared for each well. The pumping test were carried out to determine the aquifer characteristic and well capacity. Documentation of the groundwater potential zone determined by electrical resistivity survey, well-network design, site selection, lithological logs, well-construction diagrams, and well-development records and well capacity are presented in this report. From the electrical resistivity survey results, three resistivity profiles line located at Tasik Ampang Hilir, Setiawangsa and Tasik Metropolitan Kepong have been identified as high groundwater potential zone. The other survey lines located in Sri Gombak, Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras and Tasik Titiwangsa are not groundwater potential area. In term of groundwater availability, the total groundwater yield from tube well in Kuala Lumpur is 6.42 MLD. The results of geophysical survey and well construction give better information of subsurface structural systems and groundwater availability. Thus, it would facilitate the ability of stakeholders to develop reliable sustainable water management plans particularly the possible for groundwater abstraction and prevention of the failure related geo-hazard disasters.
