This guideline provides directions to designers, engineers, contractors and stakeholders to build surface flow constructed wetland system that can effectively treat raw sewage water only. Design criteria of wetland sizing is solely based on population equivalent (PE). Information given in this guideline assumes flat or gently sloping sites without flooding, land stability or erosion issues at Malaysia's rural areas only. Expert design assistance should be sought for such difficult conditions and sites.
