RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM AT HYDRAULIC AND INSTRUMENTATION LABORATORY
The development and innovation of Rainwater Harvesting System (RHS) at Hydraulic and Instrumentation Laboratory (MHI) provides an effective and sustainable solution for sourcing water for various experimental setups, physical modeling, hydraulic research, instrumentation calibration and testing. The present MHI building's roof surface has a maximum catchment area of 12,000 m² and a total storage capacity of 3,718 m³ for Reservoir A (pond), Reservoir B (underground) and G.I. storage tank (indoor). By implementing the concept of capturing rainwater from MHI catchment area, storing rainwater and recycle it for optimal use, the laboratory can reduce reliance on municipal water supplies and save water consumption cost. Through utilizing the natural resources, this system contributes to environmental sustainability.
